Earthbound Honey was established in 2006 by Karlene & Terry Shaw-Toomey.
Wanting a better life for their three boys, Terry left his job as Production Director for a city-based communications company and started working with the bees. One year later Karlene reduced her workload as a landscape gardener and joined him.
They now both work from their 11 acre property in the beautiful Bethells Valley which lies north-west of Auckland.
At Earthbound Honey our emphasis is on the quality of the raw, organic honey we produce, rather than the quantity. This also extends to our harvesting and packaging processes.
Earthbound Honey is collected by hand several times during the honey season and promptly packed into drums and stored.
Although all our honey is filtered, this process is designed to only remove bees and excess wax - leaving pure raw organic honey. We process our honey this way to ensure the wax, pollens, trace minerals and complex sugars that occur naturally in the honey are never compromised.
Earthbound Honey is never heat-treated or pasteurised.
If there is any downside to our honey, it’s that it can sometimes be hard to get!
You won’t find our honey on any supermarket shelves. Our honey can only be found at selected farmers' markets, some delicatessens and hand- picked local shops. If you can’t make it to one of these outlets, we will endeavour to find a solution to deliver Earthbound Honey to your doorstep.
When you purchase a jar of our honey, you will notice that our packaging reflects our commitment to quality. No plastic here!! We only use glass jars and bottles.
Even our label design is simple. This means you know you are paying only for the honey – not excessive packaging and printing.
So what does all this mean to you? It means that you can trust our honey is “as good as nature intended”.
Our customers' confirm this – Over 90% of the people who purchase Earthbound Honey return to purchase it again and again, many at the exclusion of whatever honey they have used in the past.
Almost 50% of our new customers were recommended to buy Earthbound Honey from a friend or family member.
So why do we work so hard to ensure our honey is so good? The answer is simple.
Earthbound Honey does not measure its success by the quantity of honey we produce, or even by how much we sell each year. Instead, our focus is on quality – quality of our processes, our packaging, and our customer’s experience – and of course, our honey.
Try Earthbound Honey today. We guarantee it’s unlike anything else.
Taste it, and we’re sure you’ll agree.
